A survey course, British Literature I is designed to provide students with an understanding of the historical and cultural conditions that influenced the development and formation of British literature from an early period up to the early modern period. The course provides a background for more in-depth understanding of and appreciation for British literature. It also employs several common techniques used to analyze a text.
